A list to help you organize
This is not an application, an official case record or an approval decision. Marking a step complete only describes what you have done. The agency confirms your case status.
Saving is optional and does not create an account. If you save, this browser stores only the steps you choose, whether they are complete and any dates you confirm from agency notices. Calculator answers and amounts are not saved. Anyone using the same browser may see the list; you can delete it on this page. Changing devices or clearing browser data may remove it.
Sharing sends only the link to this public page, without your list or dates. To take your own steps with you, print them without saving them in the browser. Check the paper or PDF before sharing it.
If you change languages without saving, changes on this page will not carry over. A saved list can be resumed in either language.

If you add a date, choose whether it concerns documents, an interview or a renewal and confirm you read it on the notice. You can correct or remove it. This website does not calculate individual deadlines or send reminders or notifications. Ask the agency if a date is unclear.
If you also need to organize bills or debts, the free GetDebtFree budget calculator can help. GetBenefits and GetDebtFree are projects by Xavier Carrate. This link opens our other website without automatically sending your answers or list.
For debt payments, use only confirmed money you can spend. Pending assistance is not available cash; SNAP, WIC and health coverage are not cash for paying debts.

Start with your latest agency notice and submission confirmation. Choose the issue below. You can read or print this preparation guide without saving a list or giving GetBenefits personal information.
For Basic Food, DSHS provides interviews by phone or at a Community Services Office. Contact 877-501-2233 to ask about your interview or case. For an existing application, Washington Connection’s Client Benefit Account can show application and document status. It is also possible to follow up by phone or at an office.
Use the official DSHS document-upload service for requested DSHS documents. Check the program on the request: not every Apple Health application uses DSHS. See the Apple Health portal guide for the appropriate coverage route.
Official instructions: DSHS Basic Food · Washington Connection: status and documents.
The county social services office handles CalFresh case-status questions and appointment changes. For Medi-Cal, use the Medi-Cal county-office finder. Have your notice ready and ask which document, interview or other action is still needed.
If a requested document is unavailable, explain what you can provide and ask what alternative the agency accepts. Keep the request, your response and its receipt together. This is a preparation suggestion; the agency decides whether the evidence is sufficient.
CDSS: case status and rescheduling · CalFresh rights and responsibilities.
Read the program name and the date on that notice. Upcoming renewal changes differ between Washington and California and do not apply to everyone. Use the specific guide: Apple Health renewal preparation or Medi-Cal renewal preparation. A general change date is not your personal deadline.
| What happened? | Next contact |
|---|---|
| The food benefit you expected did not arrive, or the amount changed | Ask DSHS in Washington or your county in California to explain your case status, the period involved and any required action. An estimate from this website cannot confirm a deposit. |
| Washington EBT card lost, stolen or not working | Washington EBT support: 888-328-9271. DSHS contact details. |
| California EBT card lost or stolen | California EBT support: 877-328-9677. CDSS instructions. |
If you suspect theft, use the official card-support contact promptly and ask the agency about the applicable reporting process. This guide does not promise replacement benefits. Do not put a card number or PIN in a GetBenefits list.
“I am following up on my application or notice. Please help me confirm the next action. Have you received the document I sent? What is still missing? What date applies, and how should I send it? If I cannot obtain that document, what alternative can I provide? Can I have language assistance?”
Adapt those questions to your situation. GetBenefits wrote this script to organize a conversation; it is not an agency form or a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Keep these call notes and documents in your own records. This preparation guide does not collect them or send messages to an agency.
Prepare three separate lines on your own copy: what you received and when, what changed and on what date, and what you reasonably expect next. Mark uncertain amounts as uncertain. Ask the agency which period and evidence it needs instead of entering zero for information you do not know.
For Washington DSHS programs, use the official change-reporting instructions. For CalFresh, follow your county’s instructions. For Medi-Cal, DHCS says to report changes such as income or address within 10 days, through BenefitsCal or the county. Do not apply one program’s reporting rule to every benefit.
If job-based health insurance is ending, keep its end date separate from your last day of work and promptly review official coverage options after losing job-based insurance. Income already earned during the year can still matter for Marketplace financial help.
For bills and debts, use GetDebtFree’s free budget tool with confirmed spendable money. Both websites are projects by Xavier Carrate. No answers transfer through this link. Pending assistance is not cash you have received; food benefits and health coverage cannot be added to a debt-payment budget as cash.
